Southern Sea These waters are usually pleasantly warm and often visited from near and far by tourists, swimmers and surfers alike. Many Pokémon are hiding under the calm, sparkling surface of the sea, which also harbors quite a few beautiful reefs. Occasionally, however severe storms can make this sea a whole lot less pleasant and only the most hardy of captains will dare try to set sail on the rare occasions on which this happens. Golden Savanna A rolling grassland dotted with trees is one way to define the Golden Savanna. The Golden Savanna is a thornbush savanna, which has many different kinds of plants such as umbrella thorn acacia, whistling thorn, Bermuda grass, baobabs, and elephant grass. During the rainy season, beginning in late spring and ending in early fall, the Savanna gets fifteen to twenty-five inches of rain a month. Vinewood Forest Spanning the entire lower half of the Southern Island, Vinewood Forest is most known for its jungle-like trees that stretch their vines across the forest. The forest itself is very like a rain forest, with tall, heavily-foliated trees that reach high into the sky and provide a dark, humid environment below. The forest floor of the Vinewood Forest is particularly dangerous, as strong predator pokemon prowl the undergrowth, waiting for an unprepared victim to make a misstep. The people of Verdinia have set up walkways and passages high in the trees for visitors to follow rather than attempting the dangerous journey on foot, though foolish trainers still try to camp on the ground and pay for their mistakes with scratches and hurt pokemon.
