It was a strange change of atmosphere. Having ventured from the rather hot South, Martin Ashdown and Sera had now arrived in the town of Gardevant, far up in the north of Harmony.
It was relatively cold here, but the calm atmosphere of this place was a pleasant one for sure. Seeing how many wondrous places this continent had to offer, Martin found himself wondering why he had not yet undertaken this journey before. There were so many things to see, so many things to make one wonder.
If more people went on travels like this one, then there would be a lot less arguing and fighting in this world, that the gentleman was certain of.
However the long journey had made the trainer tired and Sera had fallen asleep in his arms as well. Maybe it was time to sit down for a few minutes and to relax.
And thus Martin found himself a fountain and sat down on its edge, observing the people and Pokémon around him.

After having gone through the route eleven, Caim and Deimos had decided to head back to town for the time being. Deimos, although he wasn't showing it, was somewhat worn out due to him having to run around within the windy conditions, he wasn't particularly used to it... it was another matter that he would have to grow accustomed to within this region. Despite him having been tired out, Deimos was still walking alongside Caim, who he himself was heading towards the Pokémon center, he wanted to get Deimos's strength recovered as soon as possible, instead of just letting him suffer.

As soon as the two reached the center, Caim recalled Deimos and headed inside... this was the place where that frustrating girl had decided to challenge him and attempt to attack Deimos, better to be safe than sorry.

Sitting and watching the people and Pokémon around him, one man in particular caught the Friendship Rater's eye. It was a relatively young person, an Absol at his side. Most likely a trainer. A theory that was further reinforced by this trainer recalling the Absol into a Pokéball and wandering into a Pokémon center with it. Now normally that was nothing strange, but something made the gentleman unable to stop thinking about this person. Maybe it was the abnormally strong bond between the trainer and his Pokémon. In any case - waiting outside was beginning to feel rather chilly and neither of them were too fond of getting a cold. And thus Martin carefully picked up his Togepi so she wouldn't wake up and walked into the Pokémon Center.

Having been focused on getting Deimos's strength restored,  he hadn't noticed that another individual had entered the structure after him... Then again Caim probably wouldn't have initiated conversation if he had. After reacquiring Deimos from him being handed back over after the healing, Caim immediately sent the Absol back out of it's pokeball. Deimos merely stretched, and then looked at Caim in silence... He wasn't sure of what to do now, they'd already looked at the nearby route, and they'd already taken a good look around the town.

"we should probably slow down and take a break for now... No need to begin over exerting ourselves at such an early date" Caim spoke towards his Absol, who simply nodded as a response. Taking a seat on one of the sofa's that always seem to be present in these centers, Deimos found himself just sitting on the ground next to Caim.

Quietly, Caim took out his journal and began to write... the focus currently being on the original events that happened and how it turned out in the end. He also was quietly writing something else as well, he figured he'd keep notes of interesting persons he encountered as time went on, a sensible idea really, better to have it recorded than not having it recorded and thus forgetting.

This trainer truly was a genuinely kind one it seemed. Not only did he raise one of the most misunderstood kinds of Pokémon there was, but he also appeared to be careful not to overexert his partner. If only more trainers were like that.
Martin would like to learn more about this intriguing person, but the trainer had sat down to rest, so it would be impolite to simply go talk to them. Maybe they could initiate conversation after their rest was over? Sera was still sleeping calmly, but if she would be awake, then she would most likely be waving excitedly at just about everyone now.

Caim, still being busy writing in his journal, still wasn't aware of the presence of the man that seemed to be curious about him. Caim's focus was currently on writing up about the people he had encountered so far, from that frustrating girl with the Aerodactyle, to the young, shy girl with the Cyndaquill which had been encountered out on the route.

Deimos however, wasn't as oblivious as his trainer was at the moment in time, he had noticed the man looking towards the two, but Deimos merely said nothing, he figured nothing would happen within a Pokemon center, and even if it did happen later, Deimos would just sort out the problem then. So he just sat there, content with the current situation, he understood even though he had rested twice now, Caim hadn't rested at all since departing from the Ferry.

The other trainer still seemed to be busy, but the Absol that was traveling with him appeared to have noticed Martin and Sera.
Well, since the trainer had things to do, it still would be impolite to simply approach them.
Thus Martin simply kept sitting around, watching the trainers and their Pokémon come and go.
Luckily he rarely had to visit an establishment such as this, as they almost never had to fight.
But still Mr. Ashdown held the greatest respect for the nurses and doctors working here, always doing their best to heal the wounded Pokémon. If more trainers avoided doing battle like Martin did, then many of them would probably lose their jobs. An unfortunate consequence.

Finally, Caim finished writing in his Journal and thus put his Journal away, just in time for Deimos to nudge him slightly. Due to the nudge, Caim looked towards Deimos, who then glanced towards the seemingly curious man, indicating his presence to Caim. Now noticing the man, Caim wasn't all that sure of what to do here... He wasn't exactly good at initiating conversations with people, so he just sat there, waiting for something to happen.

Finally the young trainer seemed to have finished writing in his journal.
This theory was further supported by him and his Pokémon seemily glancing over in their general direction. But before Martin could think of a way how to approach the duo, Sera already had decided to take action. Having woken up again without her trainer noticing, she waved at the Dark type and its trainer, cheerful as ever. Well, at least it would save Mr. Ashdown the effort to try and come up with a greeting. Now it was time to wait and see how the boy would react. He did seem like the friendly type. Hopefully the gentleman's judgement had been correct on that point.

Noticing the Pokemon Waving towards him, Caim figured he would have to respond to that, it wouldn't exactly be polite not to... But what kind of Pokemon was that? Quietly, Caim took out his Pokedex, and began searching for the Pokemon within the dex, he figured that at least it's name would be in there, and so it was. Now having identified the Pokemon as a Togepi, Caim gathered his courage, and then spoke.

"Um... Hello" Caim spoke, he figured he'd just stick with that for now, rather than say more and potentially cause problems.

"Toge-pii!", the small Pokémon replied, smiling happily.
Martin meanwhile was much less eloquent in trying to think of something to say.
After all it would sound rather weird to say something like "I sensed the connection between you and your Pokémon." Even moreso to someone one had never met before.
"Uh, hello there.", he spoke, really not knowing what he was supposed to do now.
Maybe he should have thought this through better.
But now it was too late to simply walk away, so he would just have to get through this conversation somehow.

Caim merely waited in silence, he realized he'd pretty much thrown himself into a conversation, something he usually wouldn't do if he wasn't actually compelled or he had to in some way. When the man with the Togepi eventually did speak, Caim gathered what courage he had... the man didn't rally seem all that certain of what to say himself, probably because it was his Pokémon that had started all of this.

Deciding that he might as well introduce himself and his Pokémon, Caim glanced towards Deimos and nodded, before looking back towards the man. "I... I suppose introductions are in order... I'm Caim... Thyodor and he's Deimos Caim spoke, he found himself trailing off rather often, due to not being all that sure of if he should be doing this, and since his shyness was making itself apparent.

"I guess I agree there.", the man replied, still quite unsue what to do with the situation.
"My name is Martin Ashdown and this is Sera. I usually work as a Friendship Rater, but recently I have decided to travel Harmony a bit."
Was he supposed to add anything else? Had this conversation any purpose in the first place?
Usually the gentleman was quite proficient and eloquent in the art of charisma, but right now his words had left him and he had absolutely no idea what he was supposed to say or talk about. Hopefully the young trainer would know what to do.

Caim merely nodded as a response to the first part of this Martin Ashdown's introduction. Hmm... he seems legitimate enough but... last time we were here Deimos was attacked... we don't know for certain if this man's words are truly genuine or not, so I have to be careful to not say too much... should be rather easy Caim thought, giving no visual clues as to what it was he was thinking about.

He listened to the second part of Martins words... a travelling Friendship Rater, this wasn't something Caim had encountered before, so he decided to be even more cautious than he originally was going to. "We're different then..." Caim spoke, and then he pretty much shut himself up, not wanting to say anything that wasn't necessary.

    Involuntarily Martin found himself chuckling.
"Indeed we are. Our Pokémon seem to be quite different as well. Fairy types and Dark types differ almost as much as Flying and Ground types after all."
It seemed that the boy didn't have much to talk about either. Was he shy? Cautious? Could he simply not think of something to say? It may have been a talent of Martin's to read the emotions of Pokémon, but with humans his talents were considerably less useful. Maybe he should pick up a book on human emotions some time.

Instead of vocally responding, this time Caim merely shrugged, at this present moment in time he didn't see much progress being gained from this conversation. His sight found itself being trained on a map within the center, he was looking for potential locations to go next that would be within the area. One of these did catch his eye, a mountain referred to as Snowcap Mountain. Caim figured it would be a nice place to head with Deimos, considering the species typically liked rugged, mountainous environments.

Caim now glanced down to his partner, Deimos, who likewise looked to him as a response. Without even speaking the two seemed to communicate the message, wither it was just some hard to notice sign language, or just a result of the understanding the two shared, it seemed to work either way. Deimos simply nodded, with him likewise then receiving a nod from Caim, who seemed to understand his viewpoint on the idea from so little.

The duo remained silent. Was this a good or a bad sign?
Maybe they simply couldn't think of something to respond. Or maybe they had grown bored of this attempt at a conversation. Since there was nothing Martin could think of that could be said either, an awkward silence began to spread.
Neither of them seemed to be willing to do or say anything, so it ended up creating a rather strange, slightly tense atmosphere in the room. Hopefully something would happen to relieve some of the tension from this situation. And hopefully future conversations would work better.

At this point, Caim looked to Deimos one last time before getting up, which likewise caused Deimos to do the same. "Deimos, let's get going, we still have the mountains to explore after all Caim spoke to his Pokemon, before walking away and through the entrance of the centre, with Deimos following after him. Once they had gotten outside Caim sighed out of relief, and then he merely started walking away from the centre... The trek up the mountain wouldn't be an easy one for him, Deimos however would probably find it to be a walk in the park considering his species typically live in rugged terrain.

As the duo left through the door, Martin let out a sigh. This conversation - if it could even be called that - had been going considerably worse than he had initially imagined. At least it was over now, so they could all forget it ever happened.
However for some odd reason the gentleman couldn't shake the feeling that the boy and his Absol were important somehow. They would most likely meet again and hopefully that conversation would go better than the one they had had. Just why had the boy acted so strangely? Did Martin look creepy? He hadn't even offered any candy...
