Training Under the Stars [Solo] Empty Training Under the Stars [Solo]

Post by Summer Tue Nov 25, 2014 5:22 pm

The sun was beginning to set on the horizon, the day settling into evening in preparation for a chilly autumn night. Summer however, was not settling down. She and Soleila were still high of spirit off their first victory together as a team, and against an actual trainer. Summer just had too much energy to find a place to rest right now, though Soleila was beginning to doze off every now and then as she didn't have to keep walking, riding on Summer's head as always.

All of a sudden, Summer came to a halt, an idea formulating in her mind.
"Hey, lei-lei?" she asked, testing to see if the Larvesta was still up and about. Soleila replied with a small noise, Summer smiling.
"Would you argue with doing a little training before we find a place to camp?" she asked. After all, even though they had won their battle, they needed to keep building on their strength. And after all, what better time to do it than when they were still confident about their abilities.
The Larvesta didn't seem to have any complaint, even leaping off of Summer's head to land on the ash covered ground. She gave a small noise of cheer that sounded very much to Summer like an agreement.

"Alright!" she cheered, a grin on her face, "How about first things first we test out different ways to use that String Shot of yours?" she suggested.
Soleila stood for a moment in thought, before she mischievously looked up at Summer. Before the red haired teen could ask what the Larvesta was thinking, she'd fired a string shot at her trainer's legs, tying them together all of a sudden and causing her to topple over into the ash ridden undergrowth.

"Hey that's a neat tactic!" she grinned from her new place lying on the ground, brushing ash from where it had blown into her face. Soleila let out a cheerful cry of what seemed almost like laughter. Summer soon joined in, trainer and pokemon laughing alongside one another as the evening grew darker and night began to set in.

~A slight rumbling cuts through the quiet of the darkening night. The ground shakes a little, and suddenly the earth is being pushed upward in a wavering streak across the ground. Then a round head pops out of the ground, round eyes and a red nose sticking out of the creature's face. "Diglett!" the cry rings through the quiet, and the pokemon seems to curiously watch you.~

The Larvesta scuttled over to Summer, nuzzling her face with her white fur. Chuckling, Summer reached out to pet the small bug, brushing loose ash from the paths they'd travelled from her fur.
Summer was quickly distracted however by a rumbling noise, cutting through the near silence that had been the beginning of the night. The ground almost seemed to shake a little as it did so.

"An earthquake?" Summer wondered, glancing around in her confusion. As far as she knew this area wasn't commonly found to have earthquakes taking place. She was even more curious when the rumbling and shaking stopped upon a small head poking up from the ground. Blinking, Summer stared at the Diglett, having never seen a pokémon like it before. Soleila gently turned around to stare the creature down, as if daring it to make a move against Summer.

Slowly, Summer reached for her bag, trying not to make any sudden movements that might scare the new pokémon away. Being lay on her stomach, Summer had to feel around to find where her bag was, eventually finding it and slipping her PokéNav out of it. The PokéNav her parents had given her doubled as a sort of pokédex, and so Summer had figured that the function would come in handy for identifying other pokémon in situations such as this.

After a few moments, she held the PokéNav up to the Diglett and it began to speak in a quiet female voice:
#050 Diglett - A Pokémon that lives underground. Because of its dark habitat, if it is exposed to light, its blood heats up, causing it to grow weak. If a Diglett digs through a field, it leaves the soil perfectly tilled and ideal for planting crops. A such they are commonly raised on farms.

After hearing what the dex had to say, she looked back up at the Diglett, who had shrunk back into the ground to reappear a short distance away. It's kinda cute... in a way, she chuckled to herself.
Without thinking, Summer quickly got to her feet once more, the sudden movement scaring the Diglett as the teen had been so careful not to scare it before hand. It kicked up a large amount of dust and sand, quickly reacting to the movements with a move that sought to protect itself.

Not knowing what a move like Sand-Attack was capable of, Summer quickly leaped forwards, hugging Soleila to her and protecting her from the dusty move. Keeping her eyes squeezed shut, the red-haired female didn't open them again until she stopped feeling dust fall down upon her. The Diglett looked towards the two in slight confusion, as evidenced by the angle of it's almost cylindrical head. Soleila wasted no time in complaining to Summer for her actions, her small cries sounding annoyed that she'd risk hurting herself like that. Luckily the move hadn't been intended to deal damage, just hinder eyesight and lower accuracy.

Summer was distracted from the Diglett and looked to the Larvesta sheepishly. She could gauge the Larvesta's mood from the tones of her quiet cries, even if she couldn't completely tell what she meant.
"Sorry Lei-Lei," she apologised with a small laugh.

Turning to the Diglett itself, Summer offered a small apology to the burrowing pokémon.
"I guess I should apologise to you too, huh," she chuckled, "I didn't mean to scare you. I'm sorry," she smiled, hoping that her message would get through to the little pokémon, even if it couldn't understand her word for word.

Luckily, Soleila took it upon herself to do some rough translation, and the Diglett soon understood Summer's intent, crying out with a small but cheerful "Dig!"
Summer chuckled cheerfully in response. This little guy wasn't so bad after all. The Diglett seemed to join in with her laughter, even Soleila making a quiet noise of amusement. After a short moment of this, the Diglett quietened down again before it burrowed back beneath the ground and disappeared, leaving a trail of tilled land in it's wake above ground as it tunnelled below.

~A pokemon cry is heard from the distance. Whatever it is, it's running from something. The patter of four legs hitting the ground in a dash gradually gets louder and louder, until a Pokemon can be seen. Just like the Pokemon from before, it is brown, but this one has a more animalistic appearance. It's long pointy ears were pulled back as it makes way over the reflective brown ground, straight at you.~

Training Under the Stars [Solo] Empty Re: Training Under the Stars [Solo]

Post by Summer Wed Nov 26, 2014 9:37 am

After parting ways with the Diglett, Summer and Soleila had opted to turn in for the night, skipping their planned training for now and continuing in the morning. Summer had laid out her sleeping bag on the dusty ground, wanting to sleep under the stars rather than in the confines of a tent. Soleila had gotten a small fire going and Summer had surrounded it with rocks so that it wouldn't spread if it wasn't out by the time they fell asleep.

As she was lay there, Summer fought the temptation to practice her fire breathing, instead watching the flames flicker and lick the air from within the confines of the rock circle. It was rather bright and could probably be spotted from quite a distance away, but Summer didn't mind. It would probably also serve as a good way to ward off most of the wild pokémon so they wouldn't surprise her and the Larvesta during the night.

Just as Soleila curled up with Summer next to the sleeping bag, both fiery individuals were startled by a sudden cry that echoed through the open area. Sitting up quite suddenly, Summer tried to identify what the cry had come from, but the light of the fire only served to darken the surrounding areas, so she kicked some ash and dust over it to put it out.

As the creature drew closer, Summer took out her PokéNav for the second time that night, looking to see if the built in dex feature could identify what had made the noise even in low visibility like this. Holding the device up in the direction she'd heard the cry from, it began to speak.
#133 Eevee - A rather rare pokémon, its genetic code is irregular. It could potentially evolve into many kinds of Pokémon depending on the environment in which it lives. Exposure to the radiation of elemental stones also triggers an Eevee's evolution.
Elemental stones? blinked Summer, her thoughts whirling, Could that include a fire stone?
The device paused for a moment before it continued, interrupting Summer's thoughts as it identified a second pokémon.
#053 Persian - It is highly regarded as a pet for its beautiful fur and many adore it for it's sophisticated air. However, it is extremely temperamental and difficult to keep. It will tear apart its prey on a mere whim though will become docile if grabbed by the whiskers.

Before the PokéNav had finished it's description of the Persian, both pokémon had reached the camp, charging through it. The Eevee let out another terrified cry and Summer immediately understood the reason for it. The Persian seemed to chase the tiny fox-like pokémon with a vengeance, not letting up and swiping at it with it's claws every now and then.

Leaving her sleeping back behind temporarily, but grabbing her bag in case she needed anything from it, Summer leaped to her feet and chased after the Eevee and Persian. Soleila had already climbed up onto Summer's head by this point and the duo contemplated what they could do to help the smaller pokémon.

As the began to catch up, Summer realised that the Eevee was slowing, causing the Persian's pace to slow along with it. The poor creature was almost exhausted and must have run a rather long distance to get where it was now. The Persian swiped another claw at the Eevee, this time hitting it and causing it to trip over it's own feet and land in the ashy dust of Route 15's pathways. The Persian poised to scratch at the Eevee again, but Summer, thinking quickly, called for Soleila to use String Shot.

The Larvesta's move wrapped itself around the Persian's back legs, tying them together and pulling them out from beneath the catlike pokémon. She knocked it over in a similar manner to how she had shown Summer earlier.
"Now Ember!" she called. Severing her connection to the string, Soleila spewed flames from the five whorled horns that adorned her head. The five bursts of flame headed straight for the Persian who couldn't fully avoid it due to it's back legs still being tied together.

As the flames died down and the smoke from them began to clear, Summer called out to the Persian she and Soleila had attacked.
"That'll teach you to pick on someone your own size!" she yelled, her red hair flying around in the breeze that blew the smoke away from the area. The Persian seemed to become rather disheartened now that it had been successfully attacked and was considerably outnumbered, limping away with a burned paw after tearing the string from it's legs. Summer watched the catlike creature leave, hands on her hips with an expression like a stern mother on her face.

When the Persian was gone, Summer moved gently over to the Eevee. It seemed to cower, hiding it's face within it's bushy tail with a small mewl.
"Shh, it's okay," Summer said gently, wanting to make sure that the little pokémon was alright. She was normally a loud mouth, but even she could be quiet and gentle in a situation like this.

The Eevee mewed again, this time less panicked and more in acknowledgement to the trainer's words. Summer gently reached out to touch the Evolution pokémon, trying not to make any sudden movements and doing everything at a slower pace that conflicted with her more reckless nature. She had however learned a lot from her brief encounter with the Diglett from earlier, and she wasn't about to terrify the tiny Eevee further by scaring the living daylights out of it when she only wanted to help make sure it was okay.

"It's okay," she repeated, her hand drawing closer to the Eevee's coffee brown fur, "I don't want to hurt you."
The Eevee seemed to almost flinch as Summer's hand gently made contact with it's fur. Soleila watched on in near astonishment at her trainer's sudden tenderness towards the injured pokémon, looking on proudly as Summer allowed the Eevee to make it's own choices about whether to trust her or not.
The Evolution pokémon froze as Summer gently pet it's head, running her hand smoothly across the Eevee's ruffled fur, tidying it up in the process. After a few long moments of this, the Eevee's posture seemed to relax. The small fox almost seemed to be enjoying the contact now that it had gotten used to it.

With a small smile of relief, Summer attempted to exercise the Eevee's new found trust and check the scratches that the Persian from before had dealt. Ever so gently, Summer brushed the Eevee's tail aside to look at the leg that had caught most of the blow. It looked like it would be sore for a while, but luckily didn't appear to be anything that wouldn't heal with a few days rest.
"You're gonna be okay," Summer smiled, gently petting the Eevee again in order to reassure it, "It's not too bad of a scratch."

The Eevee mewed again, this time a little louder than before. With a small chuckle, Summer gently moved to try and lift the Eevee. After initial hesitation, the little pokémon let the red haired trainer pick him up and Summer proceeded to make her way back to where she'd left her sleeping bag.
"If you'll let me, i'll take you to a pokémon center in the morning just to make sure your leg is okay," she spoke, Soleila using her flames to fly up and land on Summer's head. She cried out to the Eevee, as if explaining Summer's intent.

The Eevee didn't seem to hesitate before mewling his consent, nuzzling Summer's arm where she cradled him in her arms and curling up into a little ball.
With a small smile, Summer reached where her sleeping bag had been left and sat down on top of it, gently placing the Eevee down whilst she got in, fluffing up the built in pillow.
When she was comfortable and had pulled her bag close so that it was there for her to easily grab should she need it, Soleila and the wild Eevee curled up next to her, sharing their warmth.

Summer spent a few minutes staring up at the starry night sky. It was amazing how clearly she could see the millions of tiny white stars that were up there now that there was no light from a fire to mask them. After a while of marvelling at their subtle beauty, the young trainer finally fell asleep.

Upon waking the next morning, Summer was surprised to find that the Eevee from last night was nowhere to be seen. She initially panicked, hopping up out of her sleeping bag and looking around, concerned for the small pokémon's safety. It was then that Soleila rolled a pokéball towards her.
Blinking, Summer reached down to pick up the ball. It wasn't Sol's, but it definitely had a pokémon inside of it...

    Could it be...?

Summer opened the ball, letting the pokémon that was hidden inside out from the ball's confines. Sure enough, the young Eevee materialised before her, looking up at Summer with a sheepish look in his eyes.
With a small smile, Summer crouched next to him, her red hair blowing in the morning's gentle breeze.
"Welcome to the team," she grinned cheerfully, petting his head gently. Soleila moved over to the two of them, making a small noise that sounded almost like a small greeting.

"Would you mind if I gave you a name?" Summer asked the little Eevee. She was happy to have the young pokémon on her team and if her thoughts had been correct earlier, the Eevee could possibly even evolve into a fire type if a Fire Stone was one of the elemental stones her PokéNav had mentioned.
The Eevee shook his head, indicating that he wouldn't mind and Summer crouched in thought for a short period.

"How about the name Soren?" she asked. She'd heard somewhere that it meant reddish-brown hair, and an Eevee's fur was definitely a reddish-brown.
The Eevee stood for a moment in silence, as if testing the name in his head, before he looked up to Summer and mewed cheerfully. Summer's expression widened into a broad grin, "Awesome!"

Gently, she lifted the Eevee into her arms, petting his head again. After a moment or two, the newly dubbed Soren attempted to climb up Summer's arm, eventually taking up a position on Summer's head. Soleila looked up and made a small noise that sounded almost like a 'hmmph'.
Summer laughed, "Aw come on Lei-Lei. I know this is normally your spot but you can share it with Soren too sometimes."
The Larvesta rolled her eyes but soon returned to her normal relaxed demeanour, pointing Summer to the sleeping bag that needed to be packed away.

"Alright, alright," chuckled the red-haired trainer. Sometimes she didn't know what she'd do without Soleila. Though the Larvesta seemed almost like a nagging parent sometimes, she had to admit she'd probably have forgotten her sleeping bag entirely if Soleila hadn't been there to remind her.

Quickly rolling the sleeping bag up and putting it back in her bag, Summer made sure that she had gathered up all of her belongings, including Soren's new pokéball. Throwing the bag on her shoulder, she paused as Soleila flew up and clutched the opposite shoulder. With a grin and both of her pokémon friends at her side, Summer left their temporary camp site and continued to head off. If she kept going, hopefully they reach a town soon enough.
